FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS: Reps. Committee Query Agencies Ignoring Parliament’s Invitation

The House of Representatives has queried some agencies of Government for failing to honor the invitation sent to it by the parliament.
The Vice Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Saidu Abdullahi made the query on Monday when some agencies and parastatals of government refused to show up and haven been invited by the Standing Committee to investigate their financial obligations to the coffers of the Federal government.
Of the Eight agencies that were expected to appear, only two were represented. Two other agencies requested a reschedule, while the other four didn’t respond to the invitation.
The Financial Regulatory Council of Nigeria as well as the National Health Insurance Commission who appeared before the Committee was asked to come back next week with full details of the requirements as requested by the Committee.
The agencies who failed to appear before the committee on Monday have been summoned to appear before the committee on Tuesday by noon or face sanctions.
