The Nigerian Army on Wednesday stormed a terrorist camp in Pandem forest, Qua’anpan LGA of Plateau State, and recovered weapons.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, the raid was conducted by troops of Operation Safe Haven in the state on Democracy Day.
According to reports gathered from Intelligence sources, the terrorists fled the location at the sight of the troops.
The sources said a recent dugout enclaved in the forest was discovered by the troops.
During the raid, a search made by the troops at the location uncovered sophisticated weapons such as two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The sources also added that intensified efforts were made by the troops to apprehend the terrorists who took to their heels.
Recall that in April, a bread factory which was in a hideout of the Islamic State; West African Province, ISWAP, was uncovered in Borno.
A factory in Abulam-BUK, Damboa LGA of Borno state where ISWAP fighters manufacture improvised explosive devices, IEDs was also discovered and exposed by the troops.
