Despite President Tinubu’s appeal and security concerns, organizers of the EndBadGovernance protests are determined to persist with their demonstrations across Nigeria.
Omoleye Sowore, the 2023 African Action Congress presidential candidate, told DAILY POST, “Protest continues tomorrow.”
Sowore expressed dissatisfaction with President Tinubu’s recent address and threatened that if the protesters’ demands are not met within the ten-day period, the demonstrations could continue indefinitely.
When asked about the potential end of the protest, Sowore responded, “In 10 days, but it would continue if the issues on the charter of demands are not addressed.”
In response to increasing violence in some states during the protests, the Nigerian military announced that it would intervene if the situation escalates.
Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa, speaking at a press conference in Abuja, stated that the military would act to control looting and violence.
While acknowledging the protesters’ grievances over economic difficulties, Musa urged for understanding and unity during these challenging times and warned against further looting and vandalism, calling the destruction of property “crazy.”
