NFF Announce Bruno Labbadia As New Super Eagles Head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the appointment of German tactician, Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

This decision comes after the NFF Executive Committee approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee.

Born in Darmstadt, Germany on 8th February 1966, Labbadia is a former player with a wealth of experience, having played for clubs such as Darmstadt 98, Hamburger SV, FC Kaiserslautern, Bayern Munich, FC Cologne, Werder Bremen, Armenia Bielefeld, and Karlsruher SC.

He also had a successful coaching career with notable clubs such as Hertha Berlin, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV, and Bayer Leverkusen.

Labbadia holds a UEFA Pro License and is among a select group of only six Germans to have led the Super Eagles, following in the footsteps of Karl-Heinz Marotzke, Gottlieb Göller, Manfred Höner, Berti Vogts, and Gernot Rohr.

Labbadia’s immediate challenge will be to guide the Super Eagles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda, with additional matches scheduled for the following months.

This appointment comes at a crucial time for the team as they aim to secure their spot in the upcoming tournament.
