President Bola Tinubu has instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The directive, conveyed through a statement by Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, follows devastating floods that have displaced thousands and impacted key facilities like the Post Office and Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
Tinubu expressed deep concern and extended condolences to the people of Borno, particularly those who have lost their livelihoods due to the Alau Dam overflow.
He urged for the immediate evacuation of affected areas and assured Governor Babagana Zulum of the Federal Government’s readiness to collaborate on addressing the humanitarian crisis.
The president pledged federal support to mitigate the impact of the floods, which have resulted in significant losses, including millions in naira and livestock.
