Federal Government Raises Corps Members’ Monthly Allowance

The Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for corps members from N33,000 to N77,000, set to take effect in July 2024.

This announcement was made in a statement posted on the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) official Facebook page.

According to the statement, the increment aligns with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, as detailed in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, dated September 25, 2024, and signed by Chairman Mr. Ekpo Nta.

Prior to this decision, NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed met with the Chairman to advocate for improved welfare packages for corps members.

The NYSC leadership expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for this timely intervention, noting that it will provide much-needed support and enhance the morale of corps members, motivating them in their national service.
