In a strategic effort to bolster security across Plateau State, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has provided over 100 motorcycles, along with raincoats and rainboots, to various security agencies.
The initiative, aimed at improving surveillance in rural communities with challenging terrains, was announced during a presentation ceremony at the Old Government House in Rayfield on Thursday.
Governor Mutfwang underscored that this distribution is part of a broader strategy to enhance the operational capabilities of security personnel in rural areas.
He emphasized the importance of supporting security agencies to ensure the safety of farmers and the stability of the region.
“This is a landmark moment in our ongoing efforts to secure peace and stability in Plateau State.
“Over the past two months, we have made significant strides in our pursuit of a safer Plateau.
“Supporting our security agencies with essential logistics, particularly in rural areas, is crucial for safeguarding our farmers and ensuring they can cultivate enough food for our people,” the governor remarked.
The governor also outlined the state’s commitment to investing in advanced technology to tackle security challenges and warned against the misuse of the new equipment, promising strict enforcement against any misconduct.
Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, noted that the distributed items will be allocated to various security outfits including the military, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and Operation Rainbow.
In response, Commandant of NSCDC in Plateau State, Alexander Barunde, expressed gratitude on behalf of the security agencies, assuring that the new equipment would be effectively utilized to enhance state security.
