Kaduna State Governor Says No To Planned Protest, Admitting There’s Hope Admist Hardship

Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani has voiced strong criticism against the planned nationwide protests, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling current challenges.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page during a town hall meeting with traditional rulers and stakeholders, Governor Sani addressed the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians, attributing them to past mismanagement, corruption, and lack of accountability.

He assured citizens that President Tinubu is actively working to address these issues, emphasizing that the President’s policies are aimed at revitalizing the economy and steering the country towards sustainable growth.

Governor Sani acknowledged that while the implementation of these policies has been challenging and painful, they are necessary for long-term improvement.

“The President has introduced policies aimed at reinventing the economy and putting the country back on the path to sustainable growth and development,” he stressed.

He added, “The implementation of some policies, we must admit, has been painful. However, these pains are temporary. The severe economic situation the country faced required a surgical operation.”

Governor Sani also addressed the security challenges facing Kaduna State, including banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping, highlighting their impact on socio-economic development.

He stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability and urged citizens to focus on the potential for a brighter future rather than engaging in protests.

“In our current context as a state, we are grappling with security challenges such as banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping. We are acutely aware of the enduring effects of insecurity on the socio-economic lives of our citizens—threats to food security, education, healthcare delivery, civic freedom, social cohesion, and especially our rural economy. At this time, our peace and stability are paramount.

“The current times demand deep introspection, sound reasoning, a high sense of patriotism, and sacrifices for the collective good. It is imperative that we follow the path of wisdom and focus on the brighter future ahead.

“Nobody or group in Kaduna State has approached the Nigeria Police with the intention of organising a protest. The police have the constitutional responsibility for maintaining peace and order. Kaduna State is therefore united in saying NO TO ANY PROTEST. he declared.

“We hold our peace dear and are committed to protecting it” he said.

At the town hall meeting, participants unanimously opposed any mass actions in Kaduna State, reflecting on past negative experiences with protests and emphasizing the need to avoid such disruptions.

They praised the administration’s efforts in security, development, and citizen engagement, with the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Amb. Nuhu Bamalli, calling for peace and caution.

He reminded citizens of the severe consequences of protests in other African countries, urging them to embrace peace and wisdom.
