Kebbi State Governor Buys 24 “First Class Toyota Jeeps” For Assembly Members

Governor Nasir Idris has said that he has bought 24 first-class Toyota Jeeps for the members of the State House of Assembly in the state.

The Governor said this in a post on his X handle while also stating that the gesture was to redeem a promise he had made earlier to “the dedicated members of the Kebbi State Assembly.

In the post, the Governor said, “I am honored to fulfill my promise by distributing 24 First Class Toyota Jeeps to the dedicated members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly for their official engagements.

“Today, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, I personally presented these vehicles, expressing gratitude for the Assembly’s cooperation and understanding.

“The harmonious working relationship between the Executive Arm and the Assembly has been paramount.

“In the spirit of collaboration, I joined the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Usman Muhammad Ankwe, in a test drive of the Jeep allocated to him. Let this be a symbol of our commitment to serving the people of Kebbi State diligently.”

Reacting to the Governor’s post, some Nigerians have dragged the Governor on X. Users expressed disappointment and disdain while also calling out the Governor on his promises to the masses.

Some users tagged the gesture as a misplacement of priorities especially in the face of the current economic situation in the state and the country at large.

@Almusterphaa posted “What promises have you fulfilled to the masses?”

@jollynony also posted “Public money for “first class” luxury while the people God has allowed to be under you are dying of hunger. In this hardship?! How many tractors would this buy? How many schools? How many hospitals? How many drugs? How much food? Why do you people do this?! Why?”

@DrVic_Exotic said, “Oga, it’s morally and legally untoward to spend taxpayers money on this sort of frivolity. Kebbi State House of Assembly isn’t an arm of the Executive. Oga, your primary duty is to ensure that the lives and well-being of Nigerians in Kebbi are promoted and protected at all times.”

@Iykonwuka posted “…The audacity to even publicise this madness is the one that beats me.”
