The presidency has cleared the air regarding President Bola Tinubu’s potential bid for re-election in 2027.
In a statement on Wednesday, Tinubu’s Special Adviser for Public Communication and Media, Daniel Bwala, addressed growing speculations at the All Progressives Congress (APC) headquarters in Abuja, confirming that the president “will run his course as provided by the constitution.”
Bwala also emphasized that President Tinubu will not only contest but will “win the 2027 presidential election,” citing the president’s performance as key to securing a second term.
He further noted that Tinubu’s accomplishments would “naturally endear Nigerians to vote him for the second term,” stressing that the president “is more than eminently qualified constitutionally to contest for a second term in office.”
Despite this, Bwala clarified that the president is currently focused on addressing pressing national issues, stating that he is working on initiatives aimed at alleviating hunger, advancing agricultural development, and resolving everyday challenges faced by Nigerians.
“So, the time for politicking is not yet, and when that time comes we are going to be ready for everyone,” Bwala concluded.
He added, “And God willing, if God gives Mr. President life and health, we do hope that Mr. President will run his course as provided by the constitution.”
