Nzem Berom Cultural Festival: Plateau Governor Calls For Unity To Foster Peaceful Coexistence

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has called on different ethnic groups in the state to protect and preserve the state’s proud heritage against threats to their ancestral homes by ensuring peace within the state.
Speaking at the 2024 Nzem Berom Cultural Festival event with the theme “The Future of Berom Land: Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Reorientation” which took place on the 17th Match at the Rwang Pam Township station in Jos, the State’s capital city.
Governor Mutfwang applauded the Berom nation for its role in the promotion of peace, tolerance, and solidarity within Plateau State.
Governor Barr. Caleb paid glaring tribute to the leadership of Da. Jacob Huang Bubs as he celebrated his 15th anniversary as the Gbong Gwom Jos and for his unwavering effects in guiding the Berom Nation and the state.
Governor Mutfwang donated 10 million naira to the Berom Legacy Trust Fund to train 75 young men and 75 young women, as part of his administration’s deliberate policy of reducing youth restiveness.
He stressed the need for unity amongst ethnic groups and reemphasized the government’s efforts at resettling internally displaced persons and enhancing security for rural communities.
In promoting cultural heritage and collective prayers for the prosperity and security of the state, Governor Barr. Caleb announced plans for the 2025 Plateau Cultural Day and an interdenominational Christmas carol in December.
Senator Diket Plang, representing the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, praised the Berom people’s industrial nature and commitment to peaceful coexistence.
The Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Bubs, expressed gratitude for divine protection amidst ongoing challenges and urged his people to double up efforts in farming activities for a bountiful harvest.
Former Governor of the State, Da Jonah David Jang encouraged reliance on God, while former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd), stressed the importance of preserving peace and unity in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.
