Leader of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has demanded an apology, and N5 billion in damages for the post Mr Bayo Onanuga made on his Oficial X handle on Tuesday.
Mr. Onanuga posted on his X handle ‘@aonanuga1956’, “Revealed: Peter Obi’s Supporters Are The People Planning Mayhem In Nigeria.”
Mr Obi has responded with a letter from his lawyer, Chief Alex Ejesieme (SAN) demanding a retraction of Mr Onanuga’s statement, an Apology, and N5 billion in damages.
The letter reads in part, “..we have our client’s mandate to demand that you retract the statement made in the publication and tender unreserved apology to him within 72 hours of the receipt of this letter in not less than 4 National Dailies to wit: Vanguard, This Day, Punch, and the Cable, including your verified X handle – ‘@aonanuga1956’.
“Our client is also making an unequivocal demand for monetary damage of N5,000,000,000 (Five Billion Naira) only, for the embarrassment your defamatory publication has caused in his family.”
