Following the recent killings of five soldiers at Obikabia Junction, Obingwa local government area, the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti revealed that no fewer than 10 suspects were already in custody.
The Governor who had initially placed a 25 million Naira bounty on killers of the soldiers has increased the bounty to 30 million Naira.
Otti reiterated his promise of taking full responsibility for the children of the fallen heroes deployed for duty at Obingwa local government area, Abia state.
He reassured them of this promise during a visit on Sunday to the family of late Corporal (CPL) Lucky Ikechukwu Ikpeama.
Late CPL Ikpeama, was ambushed and killed on May 30th, 2024 by Gunmen alongside five other soldiers who were deployed for duty at Obikabia Junction.
Governor Otti stated that the state government would take full responsibility for training children who lost their fathers to the ugly situation.
“The state Government will take full responsibility for training the children of the slain soldiers on scholarship up to university levels,” he said.
The Abia Chief Executive was received on arrival by the uncle of the late soldier, he further informed him that Thursday, June 13, 2024, was the scheduled date for the soldier’s burial having applied and gotten permission from army authorities for the corpse to be buried.
The late soldier who hailed from the same village as Governor Otti, ‘Nvosi’ in Isialangwa South Local Government Area left behind a young wife, a four-month-old baby, and an aged mother.
