The House of Representatives has urged the federal government to redirect the focus of the negotiations from fixing a new minimum wage to fixing a realistic living wage for Nigerians
They also urged the government to consider the downward review of electricity tariff further, to reduce the suffering of Nigerians.
This followed the adoption of a motion sponsored by Hon Isa Ali on the need to consider the imperativeness of fixing a living wage for Nigerian workers to ameliorate current economic hardship
The motion was debated extensively on the floor of the House by lawmakers
The Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda, urged his colleagues, to speedily amend the minimum wage bill as it did with the national anthem, adding that if President Bola Tinubu refuses to accent to it, he should be overridden by the National Assembly.
The lawmakers also condemned Labour Congress members for shutting down the national grid during their nationwide industrial strike on Monday.
