Victor Boniface Fined And Banned For Offensive Gesture

Nigeria international and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has been fined €25,000 and handed a one-match ban by the German Football Federation (DFB) for unsportsmanlike conduct during the German Super Cup final against VfB Stuttgart.

After the final whistle, Boniface made an offensive gesture towards Stuttgart players, prompting a retrospective investigation by the DFB’s disciplinary committee.

Both Boniface and Bayer Leverkusen have accepted the ruling, making it legally binding.

Boniface will miss an upcoming German Cup match but will be available for Leverkusen’s Bundesliga opener against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday.

The DFB stated in a press release, “The sports court of the DFB has banned Victor Boniface from one DFB Cup match. He must also pay a fine of €25,000.”
