The special adviser to the President on Communications and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has replied to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi. Onanuga stated that he is prepared to go to court to address the issues raised by Mr. Peter Obi.
Onanuga took to his official X handle ‘@aonanuga1956’ and posted, “I am still waiting for the letter from Peter Obi’s lawyer threatening a N5 billion suit and demanding an apology to Peter Obi over the planned ‘revolution’.
“Let me just tell Obi and his lawyer: I am not afraid of any legal action. We shall meet in court.”
This response came after Obi initiated legal action against Onanuga, seeking a retraction of a publication that Obi’s legal team alleges to be defamatory and has caused substantial harm to Obi’s reputation and N5 billion in damages.
The Presidential aide made a statement on X, accusing Peter Obi’s supporters of being the instigators of potential mayhem in Nigeria. This claim was widely spread across different social media platforms and major Nigerian news outlets.
Recall that Citizens Channel reported that Obi’s legal representative, Chief Alex Ejesieme (SAN) refuted Onanuga’s allegations, describing them as “false and malicious.”
