Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn to face Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in the round of 16 at the African Nation’s Cup on Saturday 27th January 2024.
The Super Eagles secured their place in the round of 16 thanks to an own goal by Guinea Bissau’s defender Opa Sangante in the 37th minute of their final group encounter while the Indomitable Lions endured a nervy second half of a thrilling match against The Gambia that ended in a 3-2 victory in the lions favor to ensure their qualification.
Both the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions who are giants of African football, have not lived up to the expectations of fans and pundits alike with lackluster performances so far but we hope that both teams turn up on Saturday for the sake of football lovers as this is always considered a star match.
The Nigerians will be hoping for a repeat of their 2019 feat when they triumphed against their rivals by 3 goals to 2, thanks to Iwobi’s goal and Ighalo’s brace.
