The Federal Government is set to deploy over 10,000 “agro rangers” across 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to enhance farmer protection.
Announced by presidential aide Olusegun Dada via a post on X, this initiative will be carried out by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
The agro rangers will focus on safeguarding farmlands, protecting farmers from attacks, mediating conflicts between farmers and herders, and preventing damage to agricultural lands.
This deployment is part of the government’s broader strategy to address agricultural sector insecurity and ensure farmer safety.
