Senator Ningi Resumes Plenary After 10 Week Suspension

Senator Ningi Resumes After Suspension

Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central) has resumed his duties at the National Assembly after serving a 10-week suspension from the Senate.

Ningi was suspended on March 12, 2023, after he accused the Senate leadership of fraudulently adding projects to the 2024 budget.

The Senate officially reinstated Ningi on May 28, 2024, after a resolution was passed during a plenary session.

The motion to recall Senator Ningi was sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro and co-sponsored by Deputy Minority Leader Olalere Oyewunmi and Minority Whip Osita Ngwu.

Upon his return, Senator Ningi took the floor to commend the Senate leadership.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio welcomed Senator Ningi back, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration.

Owing to his suspension, Senator Ningi lost his Chairmanship position of the Senate Committee on National Identity and Population, which was allocated to Senator Mustapha Musa, two days after the Senate lifted the suspension.
