We should Not Be Importing Food -Wale Edun

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, said Nigeria is taking significant steps to lessen its reliance on food imports.

During a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, held with the nation’s 64th Independence Day celebrations, Edun unveiled an ambitious plan focused on enhancing local agricultural production and improving food security.

Edun stressed the importance of ending substantial food imports, framing this transition as a key component of the government’s economic recovery strategy.

“We should not be importing food.

“It is critical that we do not disrupt domestic production of food. It is critical that we do not disrupt farming in Nigeria by flooding the market with imports.
“This is not where we should be,” he stated.
